Chike had a presence that made you pay attention to him. He was crazy ambitious, like me. He was encompassing.

We got married right after college. I was active duty in the Army and stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. He was crazy and confident, and once he figured out what he wanted, he would do anything to accomplish it.

He felt like there was so much more that he could always be doing and that he could give the world. His determination and positive energy was so amazing just to be around. He joined the Army while we were in Alaska and loved it.

He had high expectations for himself and for me. He was critical, but fair, and with the most genuine intentions. He was the guy everyone wanted on their team because he made you better and he made you laugh. That is what I loved most about him. He believed we could do anything, and always wanted and expected more. To have someone that sees your potential and holds you accountable with the love that he had was incredible. I try to be thankful for the time that we did have because I know some people don’t ever get that in their life.

Chike knew the possibilities were endless if people came together to get something done. “Overcome” was his word and something he always came back to when we got bad news. He believed in his purpose to help and empower other people. He always tried to be an inspiration to others.

I wish he was here to see what we are doing or at least help us out a little bit, but I know he would be so proud. He would push us all to do better every day, to believe in ourselves, and go farther together.

Together we push harder, Together we go farther, Together we OVERCOME.

Thank you for being part of our journey.
