Another Amazing Year! A summary of what we did in 2022 - Thanks to YOU!

It has been a year of growth and progress here at the Chike Springer Foundation. We worked hard to raise awareness about lymphoma and to fund research initiatives focused on helping those impacted by this disease.

The photo challenge fundraiser over the summer was a huge success! We asked participants to take pictures with their Chike Springer Foundation hats and flags to complete fitness photo challenges and earn points. Our event sponsors donated $1 for every point earned during the challenge. We're proud to announce that we raised $7,625 during the Photo Challenge! Thanks to our generous supporters, we increased awareness about lymphoma and the need for more diverse research.

This October, we were honored to participate in the 2022 Detroit Free Press Marathon, one of Michigan's largest races.

Representing the Chike Springer Foundation, our team ran alongside over 1,600 runners in support of lymphoma research and awareness.

At the Fight Lymphoma Dinner Party, we launched our Veterans Initiative. This initiative focuses on raising awareness and supporting lymphoma research efforts for Active Military members and Veterans. We are honored to be working with our partners in this effort and work towards better outcomes for our Military and Veteran community. The event featured guest speakers Senator Dan Sullivan (AK), world-renowned lymphoma expert Dr. Kieron Dunleavy, LtCol Christopher Passerella, a lymphoma survivor, who shared his story, and President of the Chike Springer Foundation, Lyndsay Springer.

The Fight Lymphoma Dinner Party was a truly memorable evening, and we are so grateful for the generosity of all those who attended. Proceeds from the event will fund innovative research on improving care for lymphoma patients, survivors, their families, and caregivers. We are also so thankful to our sponsors—Sequoia Strategies and Solutions, Silencio Coffee, Woodlawn Press Winery, Full-Tilt Brewing, B Lin Catering, Davinci Flowers, Rare Bird Salon, Evolution Glamping and Alphagraphics Alexandria—for their generous contributions. Without them, this event would not have been possible, and we are truly grateful for their support.

At the Chike Springer Foundation, we engage with other organizations and community members to maximize resources and collaborate efforts toward shared goals.

In addition to our fundraising efforts, we are proud to continue our partnership with the Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF). This year we joined the CEO Advisory Committee, attended their Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Conference, and funded the second year of the Lymphoma Scientific Research Mentor Program (LSRMP). Our $30,000 investment in the LSRMP program helped Dr. Luis Malpica, a junior investigator, secure almost $1M in funding to continue his work researching lymphoma and outcome disparities in Latin America.

In September, we updated our website to provide more information about lymphoma in honor of Blood Cancer Awareness Month. You can now find information about the different types of lymphoma, symptoms, and treatment options on our website.

This summer we launched our Community Features initiative! This program seeks to amplify the voices of people in the cancer community. We believe that by sharing the stories of those affected by cancer, we can create a more connected and informed society.

Through this initiative, we feature cancer patients and advocates on our website, social media platforms, and other digital channels. We are proud to have featured some of the most inspiring and courageous people in our cancer community. We have featured young adults like Paige Comer, who was diagnosed with lymphoma at the age of 28, and Chelsey Gomez, who created her Instagram page ‘Ohyouresotough’ to support cancer patients. We have featured Claireliese Kennedy, the visionary behind the inspiring movement Lymphoma Ladies, as well as Tatiana Tate, who has done incredible work for the WOC (Women of Color) cancer community.

We would love to hear your story and invite you to contact us for further information at info@chikespringerfoundation.org.

Next year we will focus on our Military and Veterans Initiative, launch our Internship program, host a second Fight Lymphoma Dinner Party in September 2023, and continue to add information and resources to our website for members of the lymphoma community including patients, survivors, caregivers, and family and friends of those impacted by lymphoma.

Let's join forces and make an impactful contribution to the battle against cancer. Together, we can achieve something extraordinary! We hope you will join us in our efforts to improve lymphoma treatment outcomes and make a difference in the lives of those affected by this disease.

With immense gratitude, we thank you for standing by us and facilitating our continued growth and success. None of this would have been possible without your unwavering support.
